Let Our Family Serve Your Family

Susan MacKenzie

RN, CPN, RLC, IBCLC

International Board Certified Lactation Consultant

The majority of Susan’s 35+ year career has been dedicated to pediatrics and breastfeeding. She has been a Registered Nurse (RN) since 1980 and Certified Pediatric Nurse (CPN) since 2011. In 2010, Susan wanted to widen her breadth of knowledge regarding lactation and became an International Board Certified Lactation Consultant (IBCLC) with the International Board of Lactation Consultant Examiners (IBLCE). She has been supporting breastfeeding families in both the hospital and private practice setting since the early 1980s.

Susan breastfed her three children in the mid 1980s, a time when the breastfeeding rates were much lower than they are now. Her own breastfeeding relationships were riddled with concerns like low supply, mastitis, nursing strikes, early weaning, and unexpected surgery, just to name a few. In a time when there were very little resources and support available to her, Susan beat the odds and successfully breastfed her 3 children for a combined time of approximately 6 years.

Susan is a member of the United States Lactation Consultants Association (USLCA) and continues to stay up to date on the most current evidenced-based information in breastfeeding medicine. She is married and lives with her supportive husband of 36 years. Her 3 grown children have given her 8 amazing grandbabies who have all been breastfed.

Susan is fervent about changing our nation’s culture to a breast feeding norm so that families don’t have to face the same trials her family did. She strongly believes that that goal is best achieved one patient at a time through caring, individualized, and evidence-based care.

Catharine DeMore

BBA, CLEC, IBCLC

International Board Certified Lactation Consultant

Catharine has been a Certified Lactation Educator Counselor since 2014 and has been supporting breastfeeding families since that time. She completed a program through The University of California that awarded her all the remaining pre-requisites she needed to sit for the board exam in October, 2016 to become an International Board Certified Lactation Consultant. Through her training, Catharine has been able to intern in area hospitals in both the in-patient and out-patient setting, which has afforded her the knowledge base to approach each individual case with the care it deserves.

Catharine has two energetic boys, ages 6 and 3, and has been married for 8 years. In her spare time, she enjoys going on family hikes, gardening, traveling, and cooking. Catharine is a student member of the International Lactation Consultant Association (ILCA) and teaches the breastfeeding portion of the Prenatal Education Class to at-risk women for the Denton Pregnancy Resource Center. Catharine is continually humbled by the complete trust and honesty awarded to her by families in need. She considers it a great privilege to enter the lives of families at such a vulnerable time to educate and support them in meeting their breastfeeding goals.
